A beacon for spiritual growth

Fostering faith and connection here

Founding and Origins:
Janet Brann-Hollis founded SABacktoGod as a Kingdom-driven prayer and fasting movement aimed at restoring South Africa to God in its values, governance and national life. It began with a divine call to fast and pray during the turbulent 2014 Marikana period, starting with messages to friends that quickly went viral, sparking widespread participation across the South African church and beyond.

Key Initiatives:

  • Regular prayer and fasting days, including the annual 21-day fast which takes place at the beginning of each year in January.

  • The Gate of Government early morning prayer meetings, established during the COVID period, with a strong focus on national government, local government, politics and the nation as a whole. These are now overseen on YouTube (via the channel @Janet Brann), with three anointed leaders appointed to help advance the vision.

  • Prophetic ministry to senior government leaders, providing counsel and direction for their political parties and personal lives.

Current Focus:
The movement is currently placing emphasis on prayer and preparation for the 2026 South African Local Government Elections (scheduled for late 2026 to early 2027, covering metros and municipalities). This includes the release of prayer points, prophetic words and vision-sharing sessions (for example, recent team broadcasts focused on 2026 themes).

The official website (sabacktogod.co.za) highlights the Gate of Government initiative, which facilitates Kingdom governance in South Africa and globally. The YouTube channel features live prayer sessions, government prayer points and regular updates. The Facebook page (SAbacktoGod) and X account (@sabacktogod) also share ongoing calls to prayer, including matters relating to the GNU (Government of National Unity) and international events such as the G20.

This is clearly a deeply impactful ministry, raising intercession for righteous leadership and national breakthrough.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). May 2026 indeed usher in significant breakthrough for South Africa through continued prayer and fasting.
