The scripture basis is 1 Kings 18–21

The spirit of Jezebel is a cunning spirit. It describes a pattern of manupilative or corrupt influence – whether in individuals, organizations or cultural movements. In scripture the influence of Jezebel is seen through the following:

• Promotion of Idolatry: she turned Israel away from the God of Abraham towards the worship of Baal. The worship of Baal includes sacrifices which include human rituals, food and animal offerings. Its heart is to create hostility between true worship. It challenges God’s authority through deceitful power grabs and coercion and contributed to the moral decay of the nation.
• As We look at our cities, we see so much political power grabs and how politicians, councillors are using coercion to draw the favour of man (communities) by offering jobs, houses but not providing solution that drive economic development and growth within our cities. They are not advocating for children to go to school but rather to go protest in the street for their evil demonic agenda.
• We See how politicians are no longer hiding the fact that they perform rituals to get elected into office and they sent out killing orders to remove any opposition in order to grab power or stay in power. These are the marks of Jezebel’s influence at work. Murder is a weapon that she uses to silence those who do not agree or submit to her. Perfect example is when she ordered Naboth to be killed because he refused to sell his vineyard to Ahab.
• Murder is also a weapon of intimidation that she uses to silence righteous governors from coming to the fore and do the work God has called them to do. We look at when she sent a threatening word to Elijah, a prophet who just killed the prophets of Baal but just a word from Jezebel, his whole faith was wrecked in he moved in fear. There are people God has called into the arena of local government but because others are being killed all over the country, they refuse to step into the arena and do what God has called them to do. That spirit of intimidation is the spirit of Jezebel.
• This spirit builds itself a crowd of yes, man that are willing to do his bidding. So, she has built herself structures and agents in organisations in order to intimidate the governors of God and fight against the manifestation of God’s agenda. So, her influence not only has gone through our governance structures but has affected the church.

She also uses the weapon of character assassination to destroy the credibility of her opponents. We have see cases where a potential candidate who is a favourite to win a seat, out of nowhere they hit by a scandal that forces them out of the race. It is a tactic that she use too often in the governmental and political arena.

Prayer Points

• We pray for the exposure of this spirit and the areas she has infiltrated in our governmental gate especially in local government.
• Dismantle her network of agents that are intimidating and destroying the character of righteous governors called by God.
• Remove from the seat of authority the yes men that Jezebel has appointed in our local government that promote her agenda.
• We ask God to release the Jehu anointing against this spirit and raise watchmen at the gates of local government who have the spirit of Jehu.

The fear of Jezebel made the Prophet Elijah be in bondage in a cave, he could not move and he was restricted because of the word Jezebel released against him.

In the book of Acts 12: 5–17, our focus will be on verse 10 where it says:

“When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.”

Because of Jezebel’s influence, certain gates of our cities are locked. The verse talks about the first gate which represents self and then the second gate which represents the church and then finally the iron gate to the city.

Because the spirit’s influence has held us captive in our personal and individual lives, we are struggling as the church to discern what is right and wrong because our motivation is fear and NOT faith and because of that we have made compromises that have had consequences of our cities.

One of the consequences is that our city gates are shut and we do not have authority and dominion so the agents of Jezebel are running amok and controlling our local government through rituals and occultic practices.

Prayer Points

Isaiah 61:1

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me; To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;”

• For the Spirit of the Lord to release those who are held captive by the spirit of Jezebel captive. Whether it be individuals or churches that re oppressed by this spirit. That the Angels of the Lord will walk them out of every captivity that has hindered them from stepping into the purpose of God within the city.
• We pray for the iron gates and the bars of iron to be crushed by the sword of the Lord, never to be assembled again. That the keys Jesus has won will open every shut gate and will close every open gate of our city that has not be authorized by God.
• That the church of God will regain its authority and access to the city gates as the gatekeepers and watchmen.
• The chosen governors of God will have open access and visibility within the walls and gates of the city they are called to govern. They will walk freely and the books of the city will be opened unto them in the natural and the spirit.
