Last week (20th Jan 2015) I had a dream of millions of people gathering in a big city. Suddenly I saw the earth on the one side of these people falling away and these people being removed in great numbers at a time. Then I heard the Lord say: “I am eating away at the numbers of the ruling Party of this country. I am now raising up Mr Maimela.”
Since then I have had this passion to start praying for peace in our country, that whatever God is restructuring or realigning or rebuilding in our country will come forth in a peaceful way.
This morning while I was praying for peace in our country the Lord told me too look at Jeremiah 22 and pray for government and the country based on this. It is clear from Jeremiah 22 that God sustains a government that practices what is right in God’s eyes. God is a Father who deeply cares for all the families on the earth. When we touch the foreigners, the orphaned(fatherless) , the poor, the widows, the needy we touch Him. His heart is moved when we touch these people . Too know God is to know His Heart. Too know God is to treat these people with dignity and respect:
“This is what the LORD says: do what is right and just, rescues from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. ( Last week many Ethiopians were robbed). Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner (last week many foreigners got robbed and hurt), the fatherless or the widow , and do not shed innocent blood in this place. 4 For if you are careful to carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this palace, riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by their officials and their people. 5 But if you do not obey these commands, declares the LORD, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.” Jeremiah 22:3–5 (NIV84)
13 “Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness (Nkandla?) his upper rooms by injustice, making his countrymen work for nothing, not paying them for their labor. 14 He says, ‘I will build myself a great palace with spacious upper rooms.’ So he makes large windows in it, panels it with cedar and decorates it in red. 15 “Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him. 16 He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the LORD. 17 “But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion.” Jeremiah 22:13–17 (NIV84)
When rulers uphold the godly principle of helping these kind of people they actually ensure the hand of God over the nation and stability, but when they do not uphold these principles they are the cause of a downward spiral and instability in a nation. We must now pray for good godly governance in our country and that our government will uphold these principles. We must also pray that God will put people in power who will uphold these things. We can also pray that God will raise the body of Christ up take the cause of these groups of people serious. That the church will handle the fatherless, the foreigners, the widows and the needy with the same heart that God has. Amen.
